Camp SMILE (Sharing Memories in a Loving Environment) is a collaborative effort by St. Claire Hospice and Morehead State University's Department of Nursing. Camp SMILE is offered to children, 7 to 17 years old, who have been involved in Hospice or who have experienced the loss of a loved one. Trained bereavement counselors will offer a variety of participatory activities to guide children through understanding feelings of grief and loss. There is no charge for the campers, who receive lunch and afternoon swimming and other fun activities each day, as well as bereavement materials, and a camp T-shirt. Hospice conducts Camp SMILE as a free community service and receives no reimbursement for it. We depend on cash and in-kind contributions.
