“Tastes, Tunes & Tales” is the theme for the St. Claire Foundation’s 2016 Signature Event, scheduled for Friday, June 17, at the Morehead Conference Center.
The festivities begin with a reception at 6 p.m. and will include a bourbon tasting bar, with representatives of Southern Wine & Spirits offering various bourbons and bourbon-based cocktails. The evening will also include a gourmet dinner prepared by Chef Mike Montes and the Aramark/St. Claire Regional Catering staff, as well as a variety of music and comedy entertainment.
“Bourbon is so popular right now. We’ve tried to pair it with fine dining and top-notch, fun entertainment to create a distinctive, laid-back, enjoyable experience,” said Susette Redwine, chair of the St. Claire Foundation’s Signature Event Committee.
Lesley Lewis, who portrayed the title role in the Morehead Theatre Guild’s 2011 production of “Always, Patsy Cline,” will reprise the character and perform some of the country icon’s most popular and sultry songs.
Acclaimed raconteur and storyteller Laura Lee Duncan will draw from her journeys far and wide as she presents “Around the Skillet and Back: Traveling Tales of Laura Lee Duncan.”
Feel-good traditional tunes will be performed by a group playfully called Biohazard. The group – which regularly plays for patients in the St. Claire Regional Oncology Department – includes Cynthia Schneider, MD; Harvey Pennington, Larry Albert, Ron Dobler, Calvin Conn and others.
The proceeds from this year’s signature event will enhance the environment and patient experience for St. Claire Regional’s cancer patients. Those services will soon be provided in the new $28 million Medical Services Pavilion, said Tom Lewis, St. Claire Foundation Executive Director.
“Those who are a part of ‘Tastes, Tunes & Tales’ will enable our nationally accredited oncology program to take even bigger strides toward delivering personalized care at every stage of cancer treatment and recovery, providing the best in cancer care close to home,” Lewis said.
Tickets for “Tastes, Tunes & Tales” are $100 per person for general admission, $1,000 for a reserved table with preferred seating for eight, or $1,200 for a table of 10. To purchase tickets or reserve a table, call the St. Claire Foundation at 606.783.6512.
