UK St. Claire Awarded $1 Million Emergency Health Care Grant

UK St. Claire (SCH) is pleased to announce the health system is the recipient of a $1 million Emergency Rural Health Care Grant awarded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).

“We are tremendously grateful for the support the USDA has shown to rural healthcare,” said Donald H. Lloyd, II, SCH President/CEO. “Investments such as this help to ensure we are able to continue our mission to proclaim God’s Goodness through a healing ministry to the people of Eastern Kentucky in the most effective and efficient ways possible.”

The grant will help subsidize SCH’s $5.5 million investment to upgrade air handling units at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead. The new state-of-the-art units will provide increased ventilation and filtration, and ultraviolet lights throughout the system will kill viruses and bacteria in the airstream. The new air handling units will help improve energy efficiency, meeting immediate needs in addressing potential contaminants and increasing the hospital's capacity to respond to future pandemic events.

“We want our patients, as well as our staff, to have comfort knowing we’re providing the safest and cleanest air possible throughout our facilities,” Lloyd added.
