St. Claire Healthcare’s Hospice Program Hosts Father’s Day Event

Yesterday in honor of Father’s Day, St. Claire HealthCare’s Hospice program hosted “Memories of Dad,” an event to honor and share memories of fathers that have passed. People from the community came together to hear words of comfort and share stories and memories of their fathers.

Guests were encouraged to bring photos and mementos of their fathers to share with the group. They shared the life lessons that were instilled in them by their fathers and the experiences they treasure, such as fishing or talking on the porch. The impact of our fathers is great. They help guide us and develop who we become. Even after they are gone, we still remember their advice and wisdom regularly.

“Dealing with the loss of a loved one, especially a parent is never easy. By coming together as a community and remembering the fathers that have passed, we can help the healing process,” stated Tiffany Fannin, LSW, a social worker for SCH Hospice. “Our goal is to create an environment where everyone knows they are not alone and feels comfortable sharing their feelings. We hope to help everyone heal from the loss of such an important figure in their lives.”

Each guest was given a yellow rose in honor of their beloved father. Through laughter and tears, the event allowed guests to cope with their loss and feel the comradery of people who have experienced the same pain.
