St. Claire HealthCare Proudly Welcomes Megan Dillon, MD, to its Medical Staff

St. Claire HealthCare (SCH) is proud to announce the newest addition of emergency medicine physician, Megan Dillon, MD.

A native of Dayton, Ohio, Dr. Dillon always knew that she wanted to pursue a career in the medical field, and strong ties to the area brought her to Kentucky to start that journey.

“My papaw was originally from Hazard,” said Dr. Dillon. “He was my favorite person in the world. When I had to figure out where I wanted to go to be my own person, I was very drawn to Kentucky.”

Dr. Dillon attended the University of Kentucky, received a Bachelor of Science in Biology and was one of five students accepted into the UK Accelerated Medical Program. She continued her medical education through the University of Kentucky College of Medicine (UKCOM) Rural Physician Leadership Program (RPLP).

"I decided to go into medicine not only because I want to help people, but also because I enjoy the challenge of practicing medicine," said Dr. Dillion. "I like the critical thinking, piecing together what is going on with a person, and interacting with people."

Dr. Dillon completed her residency in emergency medicine at Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine. During this time she found her love for emergency medicine.

“Emergency medicine was a very pleasant surprise to me,” said Dr. Dillon. “It is refreshing that there is always a new patient and new story. I like constantly changing my gears and managing multiple things at once.”

Dr. Dillon plans to be involved with education at SCH and help students of all paths know and respect emergency medicine.

“I really look forward to working with students and passing my love of emergency medicine on to somebody else to show them why the ER is such a fun place to work,” said Dr. Dillon.

In her spare time, Dr. Dillon enjoys gardening, canning, painting, watching her husband coach football, and playing in fantasy football leagues.
