St. Claire HealthCare Board of Directors Welcomes New Members

St. Claire HealthCare welcomed five new members to its Board of Directors during its fall meeting.

The Board provides oversight and strategic direction for the health system while honoring St. Claire HealthCare’s mission “To proclaim God’s goodness through a healing ministry to the people of Eastern Kentucky.”

“We are so grateful to these men and women for their service to our ministry,” said Donald H. Lloyd, II, SCH President/CEO. “We are blessed with strong leaders who are committed to our mission and connected to the communities we serve.”

The St. Claire Board of Directors is proud to introduce its newest members Shelley Irving, PA-C; Sr. Marge Mouch, SND; Oliver Thomas Newcomb IV, MD; John Northcutt; and Russ Ward.

  • Shelley Irving, PA-C, assistant professor and site director for the University of Kentucky College of Health Sciences Physician Assistant Studies Department’s Morehead Campus. She also serves as the lead charge for the People’s Clinic, a local clinic providing free healthcare to those who cannot afford to pay, and serves as a Fellow of the UK Center for Interprofessional Health Education and as a member of the CME Committee for the Kentucky Academy of Physician Assistants (KAPA). Irving is a resident of Carter County.
     
  • Sr. Marge Mouch, SND, previously served as the director of mission integration at St. Claire HealthCare and was a member of the Board of Directors from 1988 to 1998. She earned her M.Ed in supervision and elementary education from Xavier University and a master’s degree in lay pastoral ministry from Mount St. Mary’s Seminary and School of Theology. Having recently traveled to Uganda for ministry work, Sr. Mouch now resides in Morehead.
     
  • Oliver Thomas Newcomb, IV, MD, a resident of Rowan County, joined St. Claire HealthCare’s medical staff in 2017. A specialist in urology, he received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Kentucky and went on to earn his medical degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine where he also completed his residency. He previously served as the chair of the Department of Surgery in SCH’s medical staff leadership.
     
  • John Northcutt, the director at Northcutt and Son Home for Funerals, is serving as the assistant chief of the Morehead Fire Department and was re-elected to serve his sixth term as Rowan County coroner. He is a member of the Kentucky Mass Fatality Team and has assisted in several retrieval efforts including Hurricane Katrina and Comair Flight 5191 in Lexington. A resident of Rowan County, Northcutt has also served as the president of the Morehead Optimist Club.
     
  • Russ Ward, a veteran educator of over twenty years, serves as President/CEO of Maysville Community and Technical College (MCTCS). Ward previously served as the Campus Director at the Rowan Campus of MCTCS and professor of sociology earning numerous teaching awards. He is a graduate of Morehead State University where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Master of Arts in Sociology.

Pathologist Jeffrey Ellis, MD, and OB/GYN Rebecca Todd, MD, completed their terms of service on the Board of Directors in 2021.

The Board is chaired by Sr. Marla Monahan, SND. Dan Markwell of Morehead serves as the vice-chair.
