St. Claire HealthCare Welcomes Chelsea Walker, DNP, APRN, to its Frenchburg Clinic

St. Claire HealthCare is proud to welcome Chelsea Walker, DNP, APRN, to its Frenchburg Clinic where she joins Carolyn Moore, MD, and Jennifer Akers, APRN, in providing primary care for the entire family.

A Frenchburg native, Chelsea says it’s an honor for her to serve people from the community she grew up in.

“I always wanted to give back to my community and I think this is one of the best ways to do it,” she said. “I’m able to help people live healthier lives.”

Chelsea discovered her passion for nursing early in life, caring for her first patient when she was a young child.

“My dad suffered a traumatic brain injury when I was real young and I remember taking care of him,” she said. “That’s what inspired me to go into nursing.”

Chelsea followed her childhood passion and went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Morehead State University, but that wasn’t enough. Chelsea was already taking steps to advance her career. She was accepted into Murray State University’s Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP): Family Nurse Practitioner before she even graduated from MSU. She earned her DNP in 2020 after completing most of her clinical rotations at St. Claire HealthCare’s Frenchburg clinic.

Chelsea joined the St. Claire team in 2017 as a nurse in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and later in the emergency department. When the opportunity arose to practice primary care in her hometown, she was all in.

“I think the most rewarding part of practicing medicine in my hometown is building relationships and gaining the trust and respect of my patients,” she said.

In her spare time, Chelsea says she loves to travel, read, kayak, swim, fish … basically all things outdoors.
