St. Claire HealthCare Proudly Welcomes Amber Sexton, DO, to Its Sandy Hook Primary Care Clinic

St. Claire HealthCare is proud to announce the full-time addition of family medicine physician, Amber Sexton, DO, to its medical staff. Dr. Sexton is now seeing and accepting new patients at the St. Claire HealthCare primary care clinic in Sandy Hook.

“I’m looking forward to establishing a strong foundation in Sandy Hook and connecting with patients in and around Elliott County,” says Dr. Sexton. “I’m excited about getting involved and being a part of what’s happening in the community.”

Having grown up with strong Eastern Kentucky roots, Dr. Sexton says she always admired St. Claire’s mission to proclaim God’s goodness through a healing ministry to the people of Eastern Kentucky.

“I think it’s important to be able to bring resources and access to people that wouldn’t have it otherwise,” she said. “A lot of my medical school counterparts went off to big cities, but I felt it was important for me to stick close to St. Claire’s mission.”

A native of Morehead, Dr. Sexton graduated Summa Cum Laude from Morehead State University in 2014 and went on to earn her medical degree from the University of Pikeville – Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine where she graduated with honors in 2018. She recently completed her residency at St. Claire HealthCare through the University of Kentucky’s Rural Family Medicine Residency program.

“Having been osteopathically trained, it’s important for me to see patients holistically,” she said. “When I meet with a patient I try to find out who they are as a person, not just their symptoms or conditions, so that I can understand more about them, and treat them in the most effective manner.”

Throughout her residency, Dr. Sexton has been a tremendous resource for her patients and is looking forward to building relationships and rapport with new patients in her full-time practice.

In her spare time, Dr. Sexton enjoys reading, swimming, and kayaking, as well as spending time with her husband, Ethan, and their cats.
