UK St. Claire Earns Kentucky Hospital Association Quality Award

UK St. Claire recently received the Kentucky Hospital Association (KHA) Quality Award in the 100 to 250 Beds Category at the KHA Awards Luncheon on May 10, as part of the 90th Annual KHA Convention in Lexington.

The KHA Quality Award is presented to honor hospital leadership and innovation in quality, safety, and commitment to patient care. Hospitals presented with this honor demonstrate a dedication to patient safety as well as persistence to going above and beyond what is expected for providing quality care.

At this year’s convention, UK St. Claire submitted an innovative change project titled, "Implementing a Patient-Centered Care Model to Reduce Opioid Usage." The project highlighted UK St. Claire’s implementation of a shared vision by physicians and leaders alike to impact the opioid crisis and to improve patient outcomes. To compliment this UK St. Claire physicians Will Melahn, MD, Jacob Perry, MD, John Sanders, MD, and Phillip Overall, MD, presented as a panel at KHA's annual convention.

“I am so proud of our medical staff for tackling this long-term issue affecting our community, patients, families, providers, and staff,” says Linda Fultz, UK St. Claire Vice President of Quality and Resource Management. “Their decision to begin and continue this journey is one example of what we can achieve together through quality improvement initiatives and adopting clinical best practice.”
