Curriculum

OGME-1

Longitudinal experiences are emphasized in Inpatient and Outpatient Family Medicine. There are traditional block rotations in the following:

  • Critical Care
  • Emergency Medicine
  • Inpatient Pediatrics
  • Inpatient Surgery
  • Newborn Nursery
  • Obstetrics

OGME-2and OGME-3

Longitudinal experiences are emphasized in Inpatient and Outpatient Family Medicine, and Management for Health Systems. There are traditional block rotations in the following:

  • Behavioral Medicine
  • Cardiology
  • Emergency Medicine
  • Endocrinology
  • Gastroenterology
  • Gynecology
  • Internal Medicine
  • Outpatient Surgery
  • Management for Health Systems
  • Nephrology
  • Outpatient Pediatrics
  • Orthopedics
  • Palliative Medicine
  • Podiatry
  • Urology

There is significant elective time as well. All residents identify a rural faculty mentor who works with the resident in a coaching relationship throughout the next two years of training. Mentors help residents identify specific training needs they may wish to strengthen throughout their experience.

Beginning in OGME-2, Residents rotate through two-week blocks of night float throughout the year and take call approximately once per month covering the rural St. Claire Regional Family Medicine practice, including the practice’s obstetrics patients and newborns.
