Highley Named “Experiential Education Employer of the Year”

St. Claire HealthCare is excited to announce that Mindy Highley, Executive Director, Community Engagement & Philanthropy has been named Morehead State University’s (MSU) “Experiential Education Employer of the Year” for 2022.

MSU’s Center for Career Development and Experiential Education presented the award during its 18th Annual Celebration of Student Scholarship. The department focuses on creating hands-on experiences for students outside the classroom to prepare them for successful careers after graduation. All students, employers, and faculty involved with the program were eligible for nomination.

Highley began her tenure as Executive Director for the SCH Foundation in August 2022.

“This is a very meaningful honor,” Highley stated. “Mentoring students has been very important to me throughout my career and the St. Claire Foundation is grateful for the assistance our interns provide to our team.”

Highley was nominated for the award by Alexa Deaton, a Morehead State University intern for the SCH Foundation, where she has worked for the past two semesters.

“Mindy has prepared me for a future in this field by expanding my knowledge, giving me responsibilities to sharpen my career skills, and has opened doors for me to work with others in the hospital to create connections,” said Deaton.

St. Claire HealthCare takes great pride in educating the healthcare professionals of the future. With a mission of enhancing access to quality healthcare in rural and medically underserved areas, SCH hosts or facilitates more than 800 rotations, internships, or practicums for clinical and non-clinical students from a variety of educational partners each year.
