Vishwajeet Singh, MBBS, MSc, MS

Vishwajeet Singh, MBBS, MSc, MS, is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic spine surgeon and Clinical Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at UK St. Claire. He provides comprehensive spine care for adults and children, treating conditions ranging from common degenerative disorders to complex spinal deformities.

Dr. Singh has particular interests in cervical spine disorders, adult spinal deformity, scoliosis, minimally invasive spine surgery and complex spinal reconstruction. His approach begins with understanding each patient’s condition and goals and considering appropriate nonsurgical treatments before recommending surgery.

In addition to caring for patients, Dr. Singh is actively involved in clinical research, education and the advancement of evidence-based spine care. His research focuses on improving outcomes after spine surgery.

Dr. Singh earned a master’s degree in clinical epidemiology from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, where he received advanced training in clinical research and statistical methods. He also holds the AO Spine Global Spine Diploma and has completed advanced fellowship training in adult, pediatric and complex spine surgery.

He is committed to using research, surgical innovation and multidisciplinary collaboration to improve care for patients with spinal disorders and to educating and mentoring future surgeons and researchers.

Personal Statement

I chose spine surgery because it offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in a person’s everyday life. Back and neck problems can affect a patient’s ability to work, remain active, spend time with family and maintain independence. Helping someone regain function and return to the activities that are important to them is one of the most rewarding parts of my work.

My philosophy is to treat every patient the way I would want a member of my own family to be treated. That starts with listening carefully, focusing on the patient’s concerns and goals, and making sure they understand their options. Surgery is only one part of spine care, and I believe in considering appropriate nonsurgical treatments whenever possible.

When surgery is needed, I combine advanced surgical techniques with the best available evidence to develop a treatment plan tailored to the individual patient. My goal is for every patient to feel heard, respected and confident in the decisions we make together about their care.
