I was fortunate to participate in the Rural Physicians Leadership Program through University of Kentucky, which brought us to St. Claire for my third and fourth clinical years of medical school. While I was in medical school, my husband, James, went back to school and became a nurse at EKU. During the first year we were in Morehead, he completed a nursing critical care fellowship at St. Claire and went on to work for St. Claire in the ER and ICU.
While here, I fell in love with St. Claire, the staff, and most of all, the patients. I felt called to be a physician to serve others. The mission of St. Claire spoke to my heart, "Proclaiming God’s Goodness through a healing ministry to the people of Eastern Kentucky." My husband and I want to serve others and be a part of the community that we serve.
I choose family medicine because I loved everything about medicine and wanted to take care of all ages in a variety of settings. I have a special interest in women and children's care, including pregnancy and mother/baby care. During my family medicine residency, I completed an obstetric track.
