Education: High School education or equivalent.
Experience: 2 to 3 years of experience in restaurant, institutional or school foodservice is preferred. Hospital or nursing home experience as a cook is a plus.
The Cook prepares entrees, vegetables, hot breads, soups, sauces and accompaniments for cafeteria, catered and patient food services. Foods are then portioned and assembled on patient trays, or sent for service to the cafeteria or to attendees of catered events. Tasks concerned with maintaining and cleaning the department, food production and service equipment, and ware washing are assigned to the Cook pertinent to the area in which they work.
