Medical Staff Credentialing Specialist
Education: Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Minimum of an Associate Degree with a concentration in business, administration, or secretarial. Experience may be considered in lieu of educational requirements.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years related healthcare work experience required.
Licensure/Certifications: None required.
Other Skills: Must be able to work in a hectic, fast paced environment. Must be able to handle multiple tasks, projects, and customers simultaneously. Must be organized, proactive, and detail-oriented. With ability to work independently in self-directed manner. Manages time well to accomplish multiple deadlines. Must be able to work closely with multiple personnel and departments to coordinate workflow. Handles very sensitive and confidential information with discretion. Must present in a professional, knowledgeable manner, in terms of communication and appearance. Must have excellent computer and communication skills. Computer skills and knowledge to include all Microsoft Office applications. Efficient telephone management skills required.
The Medical Staff Credentialing Specialist performs administrative duties for the Medical Staff. Coordinates and performs medical staff and advanced practice staff credentialing and privileging and medical staff duties under direction of the Manager, Medical Staff Services. Assists with Medical Staff Office maintenance and a variety of routine and complex administrative duties. Required to assist with preparation for various medical staff committees and meetings to include Medical Staff Credentials/Bylaws Committee, Board of Directors Quality Management/Credentials/Bylaws Committee, and General Medical Staff meetings. Assists with maintenance of policies, bylaws, and manuals as follows: Medical Staff Office Manual, Medical Staff policy manual and Medical Staff Bylaws. Rules and Regulations. Assists in maintaining JCAHO Medical Staff Standards review and compliance. Assists with maintenance and development of electronic Medical Staff software system. Routinely has access and knowledge of confidential, sensitive information requiring discretion, confidentiality, and independent judgment.
