Centralized Scheduling Clerk
Education: High school graduate or equivalent, some college preferred.
Experience: Two years experience in a medical setting completing patient scheduling, reception, billing, financial counseling or unit secretary functions.
Other: Computer and Telephone skills, knowledge of medical terminology, ability to exercise good judgment maintain good interpersonal relationships and adapt to change, ability to organize and prioritize work, ability to spell correctly, write legibly, speak clearly and use correct grammar, ability to establish payment arrangements.
Responsible for collecting information from the patient and entering in the computer system. Effective oral and written communication skill set to utilize with patients, physicians offices, personnel and insurance company representatives. Ability to read and interpret health insurance policies, health insurance remittance advices and correspondence from insurance companies and patients. Comprehensive understanding of programs, payers, and internal protocol for the uninsured. Ability to educate patient and families in basic procedure preparations, directions, as well as financial information.
