Thank you for your interest in St. Claire HealthCare's volunteer program. Volunteers are an important part of our medical center and we welcome your application. We truly believe our volunteers make a difference in the lives of our patients, their families and even our staff.
Volunteers are a special breed. They are people of all ages and walks of life who, for a myriad of reasons, offer their time and energy in the service of others. Volunteers step forward and carry out their assignments and touch the lives of those they serve in many positive ways. Their personal rewards are intangible.
SCH volunteers play an important role in our efforts to fulfill our mission and in the healthcare we provide. As a volunteer, your efforts benefit the hospital in continuing our commitment to excellence while providing you with the personal satisfaction of contributing to the welfare of those in need.
Opportunities for adult volunteers include clerical work, visiting and escorting patients or visitors within our facility, and many other opportunities within specific departments. Volunteers may commit to four or more hours a week or to be "on-call" for special projects.
Hospice care is focused on helping families cope with what people fear most about dying—being in pain, being alone, losing control and being a burden to others. By volunteering, you can make a difference in the lives of patients and their loved ones! Our hospice volunteers take the time to make friendly visits, sit with and read to patients, assist with errands, grocery shopping, personal care and more.
For more information, contact Amber Stamper, Hospice Volunteer Coordinator, at 606.783.6887.
Organizations or groups are encouraged to inquire about special projects, which may involve off-site work by calling the volunteer office at 606.783.6517.
SCH offers a teen volunteer program for those ages 14 to 18 and still in high school. This teen program provides volunteer opportunities to our young people that may encourage a healthcare career.
