Mammography

Medical experts recommend that women ages 40 and over receive annual screening mammograms. Yet many women do not follow this recommendation, often out of fear of discomfort or pain. That's why St. Claire Regional is doing everything possible to make mammograms more comfortable.

Take the Pain Out of Mammography

St. Claire Regional now uses Biolucent's new MammoPad, a soft foam cushion, to help with the discomfort many women feel during mammography. It creates a warmer, softer surface between the woman and the mammography machine, helping them to relax while enabling technologists to get the best possible image. The FDA-cleared cushion is placed on the surface of the image detector so each person receives a softer, more comfortable mammogram. Clinical studies show three out of four women experience an average 50% decrease in discomfort with MammoPad. The special radiolucent cushion does not interfere with image quality.

St. Claire Regional offers Mammogram services using MammoPad technology at its main hospital campus as well as the St. Claire Regional Outpatient Center which is conveniently located on US 60 in Morehead. For questions concerning MammoPads or to schedule a Mammogram appointment call 606-783-6761.
