Diabetes Inpatient Services
During your inpatient stay, our diabetes educators and other health care professionals will work with you to provide for your basic diabetes education needs. Family members and caregivers are encouraged to participate in this process. We do understand that times of illness are not always the best time for education. If you need more information after discharge, you may be referred to our Outpatient Program.
Nutrition Services
The St. Claire Regional Medical Center Clinical Nutrition Services Department is staffed with registered dietitians (RD) dedicated to providing sound nutritional advice and counseling. A registered dietitian (RD) is the recognized expert who can provide medical nutrition therapy in health care facilities, and who can teach you about diet and nutrition. An RD must also be licensed (LD) in the state of Kentucky. Look for these credentials when you seek advice on nutrition.
What you eat is a very important part of preventing and treating medical illnesses, as well as helping maintain overall good health. Good nutrition can help reduce the total cost of medical care and help speed recovery. It is our goal to provide the people in our communities with nutrition knowledge and skills that will promote health and reduce the incidence and severity of preventable diseases.
Our registered dietitians (RD) provide counseling on all types of modified diets that your doctor may prescribe. These include diets for medical conditions such as:
Overweight and Obesity
Diabetes
Hypoglycemia
Heart disease
High cholesterol
High blood pressure
Kidney problems
Digestive disorders (Celiac, gallbladder, diverticulosis, etc.)
Food allergies
Swallowing issues
Cancer
Tube feedings
