Job Requirements/Position Summary: Responsible for the direction and supervision of the Patient Access staff; works closely with Director, Patient Financial Services as well as Team Leaders in both Patient Access and Patient Financial Services in order to plan short and long-term goals. The Patient Access Manager is responsible for working closely with the Human Resources Department and Patient Financial Services Director regarding interviewing, staffing, disciplinary actions, etc. This includes oversight of scheduling of staff, and reviewing needs so that appropriate staff is scheduled to meet the needs of the hospital on a consistent basis. Takes responsibility for assuring that effective communication takes place so that all Patient Access staff are aware of any regulatory and/or process changes affecting the Patient Access Department, and that the implementation of any changes have successful outcomes. Prioritizes all department work processes for optimal reimbursement and to avoid financial risk to patient, physician, and hospital. A process for point of service collections is designed, and employees are thoroughly trained in this process. Performs duties to promote teamwork and supports the Mission Statement of St. Claire. This position requires excellent verbal/written communication skills, problem solving capabilities, and a positive customer service attitude.
