Robert G. Stevens Appointed SCR Board of Directors' Chair

3/2/2011

The Sisters of Notre Dame (SND) proudly appointed Robert G. Stevens, licensed attorney, as the new Board of Directors' Chair effective the February 24, 2011 board meeting. Stevens is St. Claire Regional's first non-Sister of Notre Dame Board Chair. Stevens has been involved with SCR for almost twenty-five years. He began working with Sister Mary Jeannette Wess, SCR's third Medical Center administrator, as a young attorney and has continued to provide legal services to SCR on a regular basis. He has since served 3 terms as a SCR Board member and is currently serving another term. In addition, Stevens recently served as the first non-SND Board Chair for the Notre Dame Academy in Covington, Kentucky.

"We are very pleased to welcome Mr. Stevens as the new chair of the Board of Directors," says Sister Marla Monahan, SCR's current Board Chair. Sr. Monahan has served as the SCR Board Chair for the past six years and going forward will remain on the board as Immediate Past Chair. "Mr. Stevens has been a friend to the Sisters of Notre Dame and to St. Claire Regional for many years. We are extremely happy and grateful that he has accepted the position of Chairperson of the Board of Directors. Mr. Stevens brings to this leadership role, not only familiarity with SCR, but also a depth of experience and knowledge of the health care system, which will be of great benefit to the board and the hospital."

"It is an extraordinary privilege for me to be asked to serve as the Chair of St. Claire Regional's Board," says Stevens. "The Sisters of Notre Dame, the hospital staff and the medical staff have built St. Claire Regional into an organization that is vital to the health of residents of northeastern Kentucky and essential to the success of the entire region. I am excited to work with St. Claire Regional's talented leadership team as they respond to the challenges of health care reform and as they further enhance one of Kentucky's finest hospitals. All of the Board members are honored that we have the opportunity to be a part of the Sisters' mission to serve residents of Morehead and the surrounding areas."
